Occupy a planet
In this guide · Expansion
Occupation begins after you weaken an enemy planet’s resistance. Winning attacks reduce its resistance, which can recover over time. To occupy the planet, resistance must reach 0% and the target must meet the conquest restrictions.
Homeworlds and a defender’s last planet are protected from occupation. Hostility rules, the Foundational Shield and a defender’s stabilization period may also restrict these actions. Read the warnings before sending a hostile mission. Starting one may cost you your own shield.
Step by step
- Check the target’s resistance and the restrictions listed in the mission.
- Send the attacks needed to weaken it, then send an Occupation mission when the target is eligible.
- After occupying the planet, check its status and the occupying fleet.
The occupied planet keeps its previous owner, and the occupying fleet remains committed to the occupation. Planet management stays locked until the occupation is resolved.
Occupying a planet reduces your karma. Check the penalty before sending the mission. A military victory does not automatically transfer ownership. To add the planet to your empire, see Annex an occupied planet.
