Build a frontier outpost

A frontier outpost is an orbital installation that strengthens your presence in a system. Its upgrades let you specialize it, and some provide benefits to your planets in that system.

To build one, you need a colony in the system and the research required by the outpost. Each system can have one outpost active or under construction. Another player’s reservation may also prevent construction from starting.

Step by step

1. Open a system where you have a colony.
2. Open the frontier outpost details and check any unmet requirements.
3. Select the colony that will pay for construction.
4. Check the cost and build time, then select Build.
5. When the outpost is active, open its console to review upgrades, fleets and available operations.

Review what each upgrade does before using a slot. The outpost has limits for minor and major upgrades. A benefit for planets in the system does not automatically extend to the rest of your empire.
