Choose your universe, civilization, and origin
In this guide · Getting started
When you join a universe, choose a civilization and an origin. Read both profiles: your civilization has its own traits, while your origin determines the people, resources and equipment your colony starts with.
The four available origins support different opening plans:
| Origin | Starting benefits |
|---|---|
| Asteroid Mining Outpost | More minerals and microchips, plus a geologist who can improve a mine. |
| Frontier Patrol | Combat ships and extra hydrogen, but a smaller starting population. |
| Colony Ship | More people and food, plus a starting Farm. |
| Scientific Complex | Extra science and a starting Research Center. |
Use these benefits to plan your first priorities. An origin does not bypass mission requirements. For example, choosing Colony Ship does not automatically give you the colonizer needed to found another planet.
Step by step
- Choose the universe you want to join.
- Read about each civilization and its traits.
- Compare the origins and review the starting package shown on screen.
- Confirm your choices to enter your new colony.
For your first game, choose the start that is easiest for you to understand. You can develop the other parts of your empire later.
