The Nexus: Downfall Closed Alpha Is Complete

I am incredibly excited to share Nexus: Downfall in its first closed alpha.

The closed alpha ran from August 15 to 31 and is now complete. We are consolidating feedback from the test; join the newsletter for the retrospective and Early Access updates targeted for October 1, 2026.

A personal project years in the making

As a developer and creative, Nexus: Downfall has been a turning point for me. I have worked on it for years as a hobby and as a way to learn new technologies. It has been a safe place where I can feel comfortable, experiment freely and try the ideas that come to mind.

Opening that space to other people is both exciting and a little intimidating. This alpha is the first time I will see players create their own stories inside the systems I have been developing.

A free closed alpha

The alpha is 100% free. I will do everything I can to let everyone who signed up participate. The only practical limit will be the servers themselves, so I will keep each server at a comfortable population and avoid unnecessary load.

The closed alpha is now complete. The next step is to consolidate what we learned from real players, share the retrospective and keep improving Nexus: Downfall for Early Access.

What happens next

3. Watch for Early Access updates targeted for October 1, 2026.

No payment was required for the test. Feedback on the economy, research, fleet building and core loop is now being consolidated for the next iteration.

What the test will inform

This first test will help me understand how the economy, research, fleet building and the rest of the core loop behave with real players. Your feedback will help me find what works, what needs to change and where Nexus: Downfall should go next.
