S.P.E.C.T.R.A.
Spectral Probe for Exploration, Cartography, Tracking & Remote Analysis
Ad astra per aspera
An autonomous platform for surveying uncharted systems without sending a crewed ship first. Its original design combined independent navigation, astronomical sensors, spectrometry and long-range communications in a compact probe.
The program began on Stardate 4027.164. On 4027.198, its first prototype completed an automated survey of a Gael system. A colony could now learn about a distant destination without risking a ship or its crew.
Led by Nyxtine Kelebrin, Arclight's technical and scientific team went on to map Sector Gael, where thousands of survivors had arrived during Aurora's first days. For the first time, colonists had a reliable chart of an entire sector in their new universe—a tool for choosing routes, assessing opportunities and deciding where to put down roots.
- Mk I · 4028.050Discover
The first commercial platform. It charted Gael systems and created an ongoing market for stellar data.
- Mk II · 4032.073Map farther
Longer-range sensors and autonomous navigation expanded surveys beyond established colonies and returned richer route data.
- Mk III · 4036.121Analyze worlds
Advanced spectrometry remotely examines atmospheres, mineral signatures and astronomical phenomena.
- Mk IV · 4040.061Go beyond
Built for extended missions beyond well-travelled routes, it can operate for long periods without contacting its owner.
- Mk V · 4044.093Survey the distant reaches
Astronomical sensors, spectrometry and gravitational analysis survey remote regions of Aurora with precision once reserved for major observatories.
